The Kingdom of Mordeus
In some lands, the powers of magic have severely altered the natural makeup of life itself. Animals have mutated into monstrous things, while humanity itself is forever made different. In the land of Mordeous, humans live day-to-day farming, fishing, and playing – even after their flesh has long rotted away from their bones. Forced to live eternally, they have no need for subsistence; nor do they bear children. Nor are they mindless, however, for they oftentimes leave isolated Mordeous to travel abroad in search of new lives or adventure. They have communities, and like all mortal humans, they continue to build from the ashes of the Sundering, to start life anew. These people are known as Skeletons (although many have not lost all their flesh), and they are strongly misunderstood and feared by the living, yet they do not understand this fear, for they believe they have a right to exist like all other people. There are merchants, priests, blacksmiths, farmers, nobles, and all other kinds, just like living humans. Remember however, like most humans with free will, not all Skeletons live benevolently; there are those who raid, pillage, and even gather armies to conquer and destroy.
Mordeus is a vast island that was broken away from Astoria in The Sundering, but felt the chilling effects of magic in a way no other land has. Perhaps it was a mixture of demonic taint that corrupted the land; whatever the case, the land now prevents the cycle of life and death to occur naturally. Death for all its inhabitants is postponed, and they have been seeking a cure for years – to no avail. Mordeus has now become its own kingdom, ruled by King Xavier Castille.
